Militārā joma vēsturiski un sociāli tiek definēta kā tradicionāli vīrišķīga – tā ir, iespējams, viena no arhetipiski vīrišķīgākajām sociālajām struktūrām Rietumu sabiedrībā (Segal 1995). Taču militārajā dienestā un karadarbībā tik un tā sastopamas arī sievietes. Šajā bakalaura darbā pētīta 23 sieviešu pieredze, kuras visas dienē vai dienējušas Kanādas Bruņotajos spēkos (KBS) pēdējo četrdesmit gadu laikā. Šo sieviešu pieredze apkopota daļēji strukturētās intervijās, kas veiktas gan klātienē, gan rakstiskā formātā. Research suggests that belief in conspiracy theories (CT) stems from basic psychological mechanisms and is linked to other belief systems (e.g. religious beliefs). While previous research has extensively examined individual and contextual variables associated with CT beliefs, it has not yet investigated the role of culture. Using superordinate intersectionality as a theoretical framework, this article explores notions of men and masculinities within right wing populism. It is attentive to how the right-wing populist media in Finland and Sweden construct white Nordic masculinities through discursive interactions across several axes of difference: gender (masculinities); sexuality (heterosexuality); social class (elites); and race (whitenesses). The origin of this relationship is the joint performativity of gender and acts of terror. This makes terrorism an instrument of social and political change. These lines, the essay argues, provide, in a condensed form, a radical shift of perspective on the question of the boundaries of Rome: how far does Rome extend? Can Rome banish herself ? This article focuses on understanding the social construction of male identity in Finland in the 1960s and 1970s. Sporting experiences of the author are used as material for memory-work (Erinnerungsarbeit), the key experience here being illness (Asthma). By writing through it, the author thematizes the healthy, sporting, and disciplined body inscribed in hegemonic masculinity.

AbstractThe strength of sexual selection on secondary sexual traits varies depending on prevailing economic and ecological conditions.
